Trying out a more specific approach... you just pick a few objects out of thin air and make yourself draw them. Of course, it's never that simple. Once I've got something on the canvas that appeals to me, I lose sight of my lofty ambitions and go with what's there. This makes fixing 'mistakes' quite impossible. So the mistakes are worked and reworked and overworked until they become passable as nonmistakes in my little mind's eye.
